Where do you get your prescription filled?
There are two charges in the cost of a prescription – the ingredient cost and the pharmacy’s dispensing fee. Pharmacies on all Canadian provinces (except Quebec) are required to disclose their dispensing fees separately from the ingredient costs of prescription drugs, however they have discretion over the dispensing fees they charge and these often differ widely between locations. Costs associated with operating the pharmacy and the professional advice of the pharmacists are generally included in these fees.
